PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a pyran compound in a high yield from a hydroxypyran compound without a problem of corrosion of equipment and the like. SOLUTION: The hydroxypyran compound (I) (wherein R is a 1-12C alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an aryl group which may be substituted with an alkyl group or an alkoxy group and has 6-12 carbon atoms or the like) is subjected to dehydration reaction in the presence of an acid to produce the pyran compound (II) (wherein R is the same as defined above).
