PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing device which uses a printing head consisting of not less than two ink discharge parts each having a plurality of disposed nozzles and performs a printing operation by scanning with the printing head in a different direction from where the nozzles are disposed, and can deal with even the case in which the printing head with a different number of the discharge parts/nozzles disposed differently is adopted by using a common hardware, and a method for controlling a printing device. SOLUTION: In the method for controlling the printing device, the difference in the orientation of each discharge part can be dealt with by controlling the drive starting and ending points (pstart, pend) per each discharge part in a single scan printing region. In addition, even the change in the number of the printing heads and nozzles can be dealt with by managing the number of the printing heads (C_num) and the number of the nozzles (C_n_num) per printing head.
