A waste water or sewage treatment plant has a pump (23) circulatory system powered by a compressed nitrogen gas motor coupled to a paddle wheel (18). The gas engine is a piston engine or a turbine. The liquid circulation system further incorporates a first pump (9) with a suction pipe (11) and a discharge pipe (8). Together the drive unit (23) and first pump (9) form a submerged pump unit (25). The paddle wheel unit is powered by the compressed nitrogen gas motor (15). A gearbox is located between the gas motor and paddle wheel drive shaft.
