<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus the fault of which is prevented in advance and also which makes a user take appropriate measures even when a cartridge including a recording agent container filled with a recording agent such as toner or ink having unsuitable characteristic as a component is loaded in an image forming apparatus main body. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with an analysis performing means for obtaining recording agent real characteristic data by analyzing the characteristic of the recording agent with which the recording agent container is filled when the cartridge is loaded in the apparatus main body, a suitability deciding means for deciding the coincidence/non-coincidence between the recording agent real characteristic data and recording agent characteristic reference data stored in advance, and a cartridge exchange coping means for permitting succeeding image forming operation by an image forming part when the suitability deciding means decides that the data are coincident, while inhibiting the succeeding image forming operation by the image forming part when it decides that the data are not coincident and also outputting a prescribed warning. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
