摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate charging control when a filter capacitor is charged in an electric car controller. <P>SOLUTION: The electric car controller has the following constitution. A converter 3, in which a bridge circuit is composed by connecting rectifying elements 1a-1d and self-arc-extinguishing elements 2a-2d in reverse-parallel, is connected to a secondary winding 5a of a main transformer 5. The filter capacitor 8 is connected to the output end of the converter 3. Further, an inverter 9 for converting DC power to AC power is connected to both ends of the filter capacitor 8. The charging of the filter capacitor 8 is executed before starting the inverter 9. A charging transformer 12, which has internal impedance capable of suppressing a rush current flowing during the charging of the filter capacitor 8 to a prescribed value, is connected to a tertiary winding 5c of the main transformer 5 via an opening/closing means 11. The output voltage of the tertiary winding 5c, which is stepped up to a prescribed voltage by the charging transformer 12, is rectified with the rectifying elements 1a-1d.
