<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an airbag device capable of easily changing the reaction forces of a plurality of compartments formed in a side airbag according to the condition. <P>SOLUTION: In the airbag device, an inner side of an airbag 14 is demarcated by bulkheads 60, and a waist protective part 61 and a chest protective part 62 are provided. An inflator 12 has a first squib 21 and a second squib 22 which are independently operated from each other. In the airbag device, a control means starts one or both of the first squib 21 and the second squib 22 based on the signal from a sensor, gas ejected from a first gas ejection port 21b of the first squib 21 is distributed at an inclined gas guide part 37 of a retainer 25, and supplied to the waist protective part 61 and the chest protective part 62.
