<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyelectrolyte for direct methanol type fuel cell electrode which has high proton conductance and is improved in methanol resistance, and provide a varnish composition for direct methanol type fuel cell electrode and a direct methanol type fuel cell. <P>SOLUTION: The polyelectrolyte for direct methanol type fuel cell electrode contains polyarylene including a repeating structural unit as expressed by a formula (A) and a repeating structural unit as expressed by a formula (B). In the formula (A), X expresses a single bond, an electron attractive group, and an electron releasing group, m is 0-10, k is 0-5, l is 0-4, k+1≥1. In the formula (B), R<SP>1</SP>-R<SP>8</SP>express a hydrogen atom, a fluorine atom, and an alkyl group or the like, W expresses an electron attractive group of bi-valence and a single bond, T expresses a single bond, an electron attractive group of bi-valence, an electron releasing group of bi-valence, and a bi-valent group as expressed by formulae (C-1) and (C-2), n is a positive integer. In the formulae (C-1) and (C-2), R<SP>9</SP>-R<SP>20</SP>each express a hydrogen atom, a fluorine atom, an alkyl group or the like, Q expresses a single bond and an electron releasing group of bi-valence, J expresses a single bond, an alkylene group, -O-, -CO, -COO- or the like. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
