SQUARE BATTERY AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a square battery and its manufacturing method wherein a sealing characteristic of an insulating gasket part such as a penetrating part of an electrode pillar constituting an electrode terminal can be secured with a high reliability. SOLUTION: A negative electrode current collector 8 is joined to one end of an electrode plate group 3 housed in a square case 2, the negative electrode current collector 8 and the electrode pillar 18 as the electrode terminal of the negative electrode are connected, the electrode pillar 18 is made to be penetrated through a retaining cylindrical part 24 installed at the upper part cap 13 to close one end opening of the case 2, the insulating gasket 25 is interposed between the inner periphery of the retaining cylindrical part 24 and the outer periphery of the electrode pillar 18, and a circular caulking recess 26 of the cross-sectionally arcuate shape is formed at least at one place of the retaining cylindrical part 24.
