PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce manufacturing costs by using an inexpensive motor. SOLUTION: A card CA inserted from a card insertion port 9 is conveyed in a card conveyance path 7 by a fetch roller 16, and returned after the data are processed by a magnetic head 25. When the card CA is returned, the conveyance speed of the card is calculated based on the conveyance time measured by a timer between a third sensor 28 and a second sensor 27. The conveyance time to a predetermined stop position isolated from the second sensor 27 only by a distance Z1 is calculated based on the conveyance speed of the card, and the conveyance time is measured by the timer so that the card is stopped.
