PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that operations are complicated in the case that characters undesired for a user are included and in the case that the order of character feed is different from a familiar machine kind since a plurality of characters are allocated to one key beforehand in character input in a terminal with a few keys like a portable telephone set, a target character is inputted by feeding the allocated characters in the order by successively pressing the key and the character is fed according to the predetermined order of the characters in the character input by successive pressing. SOLUTION: In the character input method of feeding the plurality of characters allocated to one key by the operation of the key and selecting and inputting each character, the user sets the characters to be allocated to each key and the order and stores them in a device and the characters are inputted by the key operation by using the stored character feed order.
