PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform continued recording without adverse effect of a clogged head. SOLUTION: The control section 40 controls a recording signal processing section 10, a reproducing section 20, and a reproduced signal processing section 30 and reads the last block to store in a memory 50 to keep it as the base block. It creates another block by connecting the desired recording data to the last end of the valid data of the base data block, and writes this new block over the last block to be kept as the base data block. When it finds many errors in the last block kept as the base, or the clogged magnetic heads 21A and 21B at the time of increasing the reproduction speed for connection recording, or fails to find the start point, it starts recording from the beginning without trying to rewrite the base block.
