The invention relates to ferrous metallurgy, in particular to steel making in various melting units. The inventive mixture contains carbon-silicon carbide material in the form a material containing less than 15 % of silicon carbide and equal to or greater than 65 % of carbon. Said material containing less than 15 % of silicon carbide and equal to or greater than 65 % of carbon together with a high-temperature calcination carbon and a slag-forming constituents are introduced in the mixture in the form of brings at the following component ratio: 30-60 mass % the material containing less than 15 % of silicon carbide and equal to or greater than 65 % of carbon, 25-40 mass % a high-temperature calcination carbon and 7-13 mass % slag-forming constituents. Said invention makes it possible to improve the quality of the mixture for steel making by reducing losses of carburizing materials.
