The press has lower and upper molding plates with cavities, and a supporting base. Portions of marzipan are placed manually in the lower plate cavities, and pressure is applied to the upper plate by a rack and lever mechanism. The marzipan portions are molded to the shape of the two cavities, with any surplus going into adjacent channels, from which it can be recuperated.
