Each table place mat in a set is made from a paper-based material measuring 30 x 45 cm with an optional reinforcing layer of a synthetic material or wax and has adhesive zones or strips on its under-side that hold it to the table top (3) surface. The adhesive, which has a power of about 0.1 N/sq cm, can be applied in corner zones or in lengthwise side or diagonal strips. Prior to use the table mats are stacked in a pile and held together by the adhesive.
