The device comprises at least one piston cylinder (18) connected directly or indirectly to the feed roll (9, 10). The cylinder comprises a casing with an opening at one end, a tube inside the casing with an open end and a closed end, a piston rod extending through the opening in the casing and the open end of the tube and a piston connected to the piston rod. An opening in the side of the tube close to the open end of the latter contains a check valve.
