914,309. Door-operating appliances. WESTLAND ENGINEERS Ltd. April 28, 1959 [May 1, 1958], No. 13841/58. Class 65 (1). A rising and overhead stowed door comprises panels 2, 3 placed one above the other and hinged together at their adjacent edges and having rollers 4 attached midway along their side edges and freely guided in vertical guides 7 at each side of the doorway, the panels being constrained to rotate about the axes of the rollers by a radius arm 11 at each side pivotally secured at one end 13 to the top of the framework and at the other end to the top panel 3 and the panels are counterbalanced by weights 8 suspended by cables 9 secured to axles 6 of the rollers 4 and passing over pulleys 10 secured to the top of the doorway framework 14. The door is raised or lowered by an endless cable 18 secured to the axle 5 of the lower panel 2 and may be operated by an electricallyoperated winch 19 and tensioned by a toggle type quickly releasable tensioning means 23, release of which slackens the cable for manual operation of the cable to operate the door. |
