The device has a master cylinder (1) provided with a piston activated by a push rod, and a pressure chamber in which the piston slides. An electrical circuit (19) for control of braking of a motor vehicle is mounted on a cover (18) of the cylinder and has a displacement sensor (24). A field coil (23) is moved opposite to the sensor, and a sleeve (14) is housed in a skirt (11) of the piston, where the sleeve carries the coil.
