PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor with an inexpensive apparatus configuration that can attain image quality improvement equivalent to that of prior arts in which a binary image subjected to bit map expansion is converted into a multi-value image in a form realizing change of the resolution without the need for increasing the memory capacity and the processing load. SOLUTION: The image processor carries out jaggy correction in a process of binary to multi-value conversion, a pattern reception control signal 41 processes an image whose resolution is not changed, and a pattern memory 421 is read by code information outputted for each pixel to obtain correction data. A double density mode pixel pattern generating section 422 of a hard circuit configuration adds a binary image subjected to bit map expansion to the code information obtained by the pattern recognition as to the image attended with resolution change and double density processing and receives a main scanning/subscanning double density code to generate correction data through logical arithmetic operations. The circuitry can be simplified by adopting black/white pixel configuration for the configuration of pixels increased in the double density mode. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
