PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner capable of increasing the quantity of dust reserved in a dust collection part and maintaining high suction power while reducing the frequency of discharging dust from a dust collection cup. SOLUTION: The dust collection cup 5 has a switching valve 36 in a junction 35 between a first exhaust channel 29 connected to a first vent 25 formed in an upper swing part 22 and a second exhaust channel 34 connected to a second vent 32 with a filter 31 on a front stage, formed in the lower dust connection part 23. The switching valve 36 can be controlled to open the first exhaust channel 29 when dust is sucked and to open the second exhaust channel 34 when dust is not sucked. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
