PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a stable oxidative dyestuff composition containing a cationic polymer. SOLUTION: This composition for oxidatively dyeing a keratin fiber, especially human keratin fiber, e.g. hair is characterized by containing the following components in a medium suitable for the dyeing. (a) At least one oxidative dyestuff. (b) At least one fatty alcohol. (c) At least one associative polymer. (d) At least one 14-30C alkyl sulfate. The oxidative dyestuff composition has a satisfactory consistency and a stable viscosity for a long period without increasing the content of the fatty alcohol or using other thickening agent of a cross-linked polyacrylic acid type.
