The pulley has an elastic O-ring (125) placed in a longitudinal slot (123) of the pulley. The ring is formed from polytetrafluroethylene and projects out radially from the slot. A portion of teeth tips of a drive belt lies on the ring, such that the ring deforms elastically into an acceptable shape when the teeth engage into recesses of the pulley. The length of the ring is shorter than the periphery of the slot. An independent claim is also included for a power steering including a toothed belt drive unit with a cogged belt pulley for power transmission.
