The pedal mounting or bearing has a pedal body (2), a mounting block (3) and a pedal axle (10) mounted in the mounting block. A guide (9) is provided for the axle. A holder (11) is also provided to releasably hold the pedal axle. The holder has a first lever (12) which has a releasable connection with the pedal axle. In the event of a frontal collision by movement of the block relative to a chassis part associated with the first lever, the connection of the axis with the first lever can be broken. The pedal body is pivotal about the pedal axle without rotation of the axle. The axle is fixedly attached to the first lever.
