The tensioning device (1) has a piston-cylinder unit (2) with a sliding piston (4) coupled to a tensioning cord (23) leading from one end (5) of the cylinder (3), the piston displaced from this end of the cylinder to its opposite end (6). The piston is provided with at least one roller around which the tensioning cord is wound, its free end secured to the cylinder.
