The training apparatus has a seat (5) with back and seat cushions (6), fixing means for the legs and feet and a rotatable back or shoulder cushion (13, 19) connected to adjustable load means (14) by a flexible connecting belt or cable (11) on which a holding down member acts transversely to the connecting direction and is operated by a mechanical lever (9).
