<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep an area which is judged as a character edge portion, as wide as possible and to keep an area that is judged as a character inside, as wide as possible. <P>SOLUTION: A desired spatial frequency is emphasized/extracted using a digital filter, a result is judged based on two (positive and negative) thresholds, thereby an inner edge signal and an outer edge signal are obtained, and the inner edge signal is mainly enlarged oppositely to the outer edge signal using a means for integrating both the signals in determined areas. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
