摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a highly efficient wavelength conversion by improving mode overlap between excitation light and signal light. <P>SOLUTION: This method comprises: joining steps (first and second steps) to join a second substrate composed of a Z cut substrate to a first substrate composed of a Z cut substrate with a proton exchange waveguide previously formed thereon so as to align polarization directions; an adjusting step (a third step) to adjust thickness values of the first and second substrates joined to each other in the joining step; and a forming step (a fourth step) to form a periodical polarization reversal structure on surfaces of the first and second substrates joined to each other and adjusted in the adjusting step. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p>
