PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film for image protection which makes it possible to adhere a thermoplastic resin layer to a recording surface of a recording medium having an image formed, under such relatively moderate heating conditions as not to cause deterioration of a recorded image due to heat, and makes it possible to smoothly peel off a support alone in a subsequent process of peeling the support, without causing the resin layer to rise from the recording surface or peeling it off, and which can provide high-grade recording matter excellent in scratch resistance and also in blocking resistance. SOLUTION: The protective film S is composed of the support Bs and the thermoplastic resin layer Cs. The thermoplastic resin layer Cs is composed of a first protective layer Cs1 and a second protective layer Cs2 laid sequentially on the support Bs. (1) A thermoplastic resin forming the first protective layer Cs1 has a higher glass transition temperature than a thermoplastic resin forming the second protective layer Cs2, or (2) inorganic particles are contained in the first protective layer Cs1.
