PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely realize calibration between cameras in real time when an image picked up from different view points by a plurality of cameras is reconfigured in accordance with relative position information. SOLUTION: An image pickup device picks up an image pickup object 5 from different view points through at least two image pickup elements, simultaneously receives information light from a known pattern regularly arranged in real space including the image pickup object 5, corrects each of the picked-up images based on the information light thus received, correlates the corrected images for each pixel position in association with the image pickup object 5, generates relative position information which shows the relative positions of the optical center of a virtual camera virtually provided to the optical centers of the image pickup elements, and finds pixel positions constituting a virtual view point image to be generated by the virtual camera in accordance with the generated relative position information and their luminance components from the pixel positions which are correlated to each other and their luminance components.
