PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which improves the problems of low contrast and slow response time, has a high aperture ratio, and is not restricted in sizes of pixels. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device of a multi-domain homeotropic alignment mode is configured by forming a liquid crystal layer between two substrates, forming a multi-domain pattern to divide one pixel to multi-domains on the surface of the one substrate, forming a plurality of long line type patterns on the surface of the other substrate and dividing the pixel by the long line type patterns and the multi-domains.
