PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately conduct positioning to a target track by discriminating zero cross error detection of tracking error signals caused by an ID section and noise and by stabilizing seek control. SOLUTION: An optical storage device is provided with an error detection discriminating section 232 which discriminates zero cross error detection during a seek operation, a speed prediction computing section 234 which predicts a correct speed when the error detection discriminating section 232 discriminates zero cross detection and supplies the predicted speed in lieu of a detected speed to a speed control section 115-2 to conduct speed control and a counter correcting section 236 which corrects the counted value of a track counter 110 to a correct value during the zero cross error detection, wherein even when zero cross error detection of tracking error signals caused by the ID section and noise occurs during a high speed seek operation, a correct speed is predicted under no error detection condition, proper speed control is conducted and high speed seek control is stabilized.
