PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen separation apparatus for efficiently separating a large quantity of hydrogen in a mixed gas. SOLUTION: In the hydrogen separation apparatus provided with a vessel 1 into which the mixed gas containing hydrogen is introduced and a hydrogen separation accelerating body 2 fitted with a partition plate 3 provided inside the vessel 1 and having a hydrogen separation membrane 7 applied and formed on the surface of a metallic supporting body 8 of a porous body, the hydrogen separation membrane 7 is formed to have a bellows-like cross-section so as to reduce the film thickness with the increase of the surface area of the membrane and then, high purity permeated hydrogen is efficiently separated and further, the permeation rate of hydrogen to be permeated through the membrane is accelerated and a large quantity of permeated hydrogen is secured without needing any additional means. As a result, the required surface area of the membrane is decreased to make the hydrogen separation apparatus small-sized and the surface area and the thickness of the membrane are reduced to decrease the use quantity of an alloy material of hydrogen storage metal necessary to obtain the same hydrogen perameted quantity to reduce the cost.
