PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of bending a glass plate by which a curved glass plate having a complicated bent shape is produced from a flat glass plate produced by a float method or the like. SOLUTION: In a holding zone 12, the flat rectangular glass plate G is held on a glass carrier 20 at a normal temperature. In the glass carrier 20, an opening part 26 is formed on a part corresponding to a molding zone M of the glass plate G to easily heat the molding zone M up to a prescribed temperature while keeping the molding zone M to be in no contact state until molding. In a heating zone 14, the molding zone M of the glass plate G is heated in a state in which the glass plate G is held on the glass carrier 20, so that the softened glass plate G having viscosity of 105-108 Pa s is obtained. In a molding /trimming zone 16, the molding zone M of the glass plate G is descended toward the molding surface of a female mold 28 and brought into contact with the molding surface by the dead weight to be molded and is cut off from the glass plate G by a cutter 42.
