PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rear axle retaining structure capable of quickly performing attachment/detachment of a rear wheel and having no possibility of losing a nut thread-bonded to an end of the rear axle by improving the rear axle retaining structure for a motorcycle. SOLUTION: In the motorcycle 10, a pair of left and right rear forks, i.e., a left fork part 81 and a right fork part 82 is vertically swingably mounted to a vehicle body frame and a bolt-like rear axle is penetrated through rear ends of both fork parts 81, 82 from one right fork part 82 side. The rear wheel 31 is mounted such that a left/right direction of both fork parts 81, 82 is fastened by a nut member 75 on the other left fork part 81 side.
