PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant protecting device capable of suitably protecting occupants. SOLUTION: This occupant protecting device 1 has a collision sensor 10 predicting or detecting vehicle collision, and a seat belt device 20 supporting a portion with relatively high rigidity and a portion with relatively low rigidity in a body of the occupant. The occupant protecting device 1 is equipped with a controller 30 actuating the seat belt device 20 when a collision is predicted or detected by the collision sensor 10. The seat belt device 20 of the occupant protecting device 1 is constituted to support both of the high rigidity portion and the low rigidity portion by different supporting methods when each of them is supported.
