The invention relates to a variator for a toroidal drive, in particular for use in motor vehicles. An eccentric shaft is generally used to guarantee a contact force between toroidal discs and a roller (21a) of a variator (20a) in a toroidal drive, said shaft permitting a roller (21a) to be mounted in relation to a support (30a). According to the invention, the support (30a) is guided in a bearing unit (42a) in such a way that said support (30a) is displaced or pivoted towards the toroidal discs. This obviates the need for the use of an eccentric shaft.
