The machine tool has a percussion mechanism in which an associated starting disk (20) is arranged. The starting disk has at least one tooth (26,28) on its outer circumference forming a radial extension with which the starting disk can be at least indirectly supported on a percussion tube (44). The tooth protrudes into a retention block (30,32) with a groove (36,38) for a circlip (42) enclosing the starting disk. An independent claim is also included for a starting disk arrangement for a handheld machine tool.
