<p>The invention relates to a method and a device for detecting the slag presence, in a molten metal and, particularly, to a device for detecting slag, with improved sensitivity and reliability, used to a discharge of a casting ladle, in an installation for continuously casting the steel. For detecting the slag (19), in a flow of molten metal (1), guided through a discharge of the casting ladle (11), inside the device there are mounted a first conducting needle (31) and a second conducting needle (33), one beneath the other, inside a wall (22) of the discharge of the casting ladle (11), the first conducting needle (31) being in contact with the flow of molten metal (1), but electrically insulated, both from the wall (22), and the second conducting needle (33), the second conducting needle (33) being in electric contact both with the wall (22) and with the molten metal flow (1). A voltmeter (34) is connected between the two conducting needles (31 and 33), for detecting the differences of potential between them, as the molten metal (1) flows through the discharge (11). The sudden potential changes determined by the passage of a metal (1) - slag (19) interference, through the discharge (11) indicate the presence of slag (19) in the molten metal (1).</p> |
