PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of eliminating a stray light offset by which the stray light offset is eliminated appropriately even when a movable range of an optical pickup is narrow as a thin type drive, and an optical disk apparatus. SOLUTION: When the voltage of a focus drive signal is increased gradually and outputted, the optical pickup is moved in the direction of approaching to the optical disk, in the movement stage, an S type signal 33 by reflection at a surface of the optical disk and an S type signal 34 by reflection at a reflection plane of the optical disk are detected. Voltage of the focus drive signal when the S type signal 34 is detected is assumed to Va, and this voltage Va is stored. Next, Vb being a voltage value of the focus drive signal corresponding to a position of the optical pickup being not affected by reflection by the surface of the optical disk 10 is calculated based on the stored voltage value Va, the optical pickup is moved to the position and stray offset is eliminated.
