The dial member has a conical surface 102 adapted to seat against a similar surface 102 on the body. The member 86 is also provided with an internal screwed bore 104 for a draw-screw 106 which bears against a shoulder 110 of the body. A bevel gear 108 is provided on the end of the draw screw which engages a second bevel gear 120 rotatable, on an axis at right angles to the first gear, in the body. A socket 124 in the sleeve 122 of the second bevel gear is engaged by a wrench 134 to clamp the member 86 in the body. A similar arrangement for clamping a tool-socket or adaptor in a chuck-like holder is described.
