The method for joining an underground product pipe to a collector pipe (2) involves injection of a sealing foam into the space between a seal (4) in a shield pipe (1) and the collector pipe, and production of a bore into the collector pipe through the hardened foam. An independent claim is also included for an apparatus for injection of a sealing foam.
