<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide information useful to determine a paper discharge port to be registered, to a user, in a printing system having a mail box function. <P>SOLUTION: This printing system includes a printer having a plurality of paper sheet discharge ports and one or more print controllers. The printer has: a means for receiving notification of designation of the paper sheet discharge port from the print controller; a means for storing designation situation information about each the paper sheet discharge port; a means for transmitting the designation situation information; and a means for discharging an already printed paper sheet to the paper sheet discharge port related to the designation on the basis of a paper sheet discharge port designation command. The print controller has: a means for inquiring a designation situation of the paper sheet discharge port; a means for exhibiting the designation situation information sent from the printer, receiving the designation of the paper sheet discharge port from the user, and storing it; a means for notifying the printer about the paper sheet discharge port whose designation is received; and a means for transmitting the paper sheet discharge port designation command designating the stored paper sheet discharge port, to the printer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
