<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transport device and an image forming apparatus which easily and safely perform return processing, after the occurrence of jamming. <P>SOLUTION: A subscanning reception part 16 of a printer processor 2 comprises a carrying unit 30, having a plurality of carrying rolls 40 and a nip roll 41 built therein. The carrying unit 30 comprises a unit body 30a fixed to a main body of a printer part 10 and a cover body 30b made turnable between a close position for allowing a photosensitive material 21a to be moved along a carrying line 23 and a close position for opening the upstream side of the carrying line 23, relative to the unit body 30a. A system controller 20 collects photosensitive materials 21a which remain in the carrying line 23, above a position where jamming occurs, to a collection part 17 when the cover body 30b is opened.
