PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricant base oil for refrigerating machines that does not easily crystallize, and is excellent in low-temperature stability, lubricating properties, stability in the coexistence with a chlorine-free fluorocarbon coolant, and compatibility with a chlorine-free fluorocarbon coolant. SOLUTION: This lubricant oil composition for refrigerating machines has, as a major component, an ester obtained from a mixture of alcohols and a mixture of carboxylic acids. The alcohol mixture comprises 65-99.95 mol% of pentaerythritol and 0.05-35 mol% of dipentaerithritol. The carboxylic acid mixture comprises 25-55 mol% of a 5-8C monocarboxylic acid and 45-75 mol% of isononanoic acid.
