PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the resolution of a digital-to-analog converter in a servo regulating circuit of a recording and/or reproducing apparatus for optical recording media at low cost without changing a bit width of the digital-to-analog converter. SOLUTION: A method and a circuit arrangement are provided by means of which less significant bits (L) of a digital data source (DD) is quantized using a pulse density method or a pulse width method, and the quantization result is added to the value of high order bits (H) of the digital data source (DD) with the exception of the maximum value of the high order bits (H).
