PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide facsimile machine for performing stable facsimile communication even in the case of being connected to an IP telephone network. SOLUTION: In facsimile transmission, when detecting a prescribed signal after call origination, the facsimile machine turns off the V.8 function of a modem part and performs a transmission operation. Thus, when detecting the prescribed signal originated by an ADSL modem or an IP terminal interposed between the IP telephone network and the facsimile machine, the facsimile machine judges that it is connected to the IP telephone network, and turns off the V.8 function, and communication by V.34 is not performed, and thus the stable facsimile communication is performed even when the facsimile machine is connected to the IP telephone network.
