PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a dither matrix corresponding to an optional number of screen lines and a screen angle. SOLUTION: In a dither matrix generation method, the shape of a provisional basic matrix is decided by a main vector / sub vector value (step S101). A first transformation processing is executed to the provisional basic matrix shape. The basic matrix shape fills the dither matrix without a clearance or overlap (step S102). A second transformation processing is executed further and pixel arrangement inside the basic matrix is decided (step S103). The growing order of pixels within the basic matrix is decided (step S104). On the basis of the basic matrix, the arrangement of the respective basic matrixes within the dither matrix is decided so as to cover it without the clearance or the overlap in a completely planar state (step S105).
