PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To continuously display an object image picked up by an image pickup means on a display means by performing a continuous image display instruction by a continuous image display instruction means in a state that the object cannot be observed through an optical finder. SOLUTION: A camera is provided with the continuous image display instructing means for instructing a status that the display means is allowed to display a continuous image. If continuous image display is instructed (S2), first and second mirrors are evacuated from a photographing light flux, a shutter means is opened (S5), the photographing light flux condensed with a photographing lens is guided to a image pickup means and an image of the object is continuously taken by the image pickup means (S6), automatic focus control and photometric control on the image pickup surface are performed by the taken signal (S7), thereby continuing continuous taking, and the images of the object which are continuously taken are displayed on the display means (S8).
