PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a DNA encoding a new P-selectin ligand and a new P-selectin ligand protein encoded by the DNA, to obtain a pharmaceutical composition for treating diseases caused by intercellular adhesion mediated by P-selectin containing the new P-selectin ligand protein and the DNA encoding the protein, and to provide assay, and the like, for identifying an inhibitor for intercellular adhesion. SOLUTION: The composition contains isolated DNA encoding the P-selectin ligand protein comprising the amino acid sequence in SEQ ID NO:1 from amino acid 1 to amino acid 402.
