PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen production system which can produce hydrogen by efficiently performing steam reforming of DME (dimethyl ether) at a lower cost. SOLUTION: The hydrogen production system 1 is equipped with a dimethyl ether-supplying part 2 which supplies dimethyl ether in a gaseous form, an evaporator 3 which supplies steam, a preheater 4 which preheats mixed gas by mixing the dimethyl ether supplied from the dimethyl ether-supplying part 2 and the steam supplied from the evaporator 3, a reformer 5 which reforms the mixed gas preheated by the preheater 4 and produces hydrogen-rich gas and a hydrogen-purifying part 6 which purifies the hydrogen-rich gas produced by the reformer 5 to yield hydrogen at a prescribed concentration. Here, at least one of the dimethyl ether-supplying part 2, the evaporator 3, the preheater 4, the reformer 5 and the hydrogen purifying part 6 utilizes heat from an atomic power plant 7.
