SURFACE SIZING AGENT FOR PAPER MANUFACTURING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an emulsion type surface sizing agent for paper manufacturing manifesting excellent sizing effect in both methods of a present main current size press coating method and a gate roll coating method using alkyl- or alkenyl-substituted succinate which is widely appreciatingly used as the raw material of a neutral sizing agent in recent years, and excellent in feathering and bleeding aptitude in ink-jet printing. SOLUTION: This surface sizing agent for paper manufacturing comprises using an aqueous emulsion composition obtained by emulsifying and polymerizing a specific quantity of each kind of vinyl-based monomers in the presence of a specific quantity of alkali salt of 8-36C alkyl- or alkenyl-substituted succinic acid anhydride.
